November 26 has been designated Small Business Saturday.
Small Business Saturday is a national movement to steer shoppers to local merchants across the U.S. Shopping independently, uniquely and smaller, going local, and going Indie can make your holiday shopping something special.
According to the U.S. Small Business Administration, there are nearly 28 million small businesses in the United States. And they are responsible for creating 65 percent of net new jobs. Their importance to local communities extends even further. For every $100 spent in locally-owned, independent stores, $68 returns to the community through taxes, payroll, and other expenditures, according to the small business advocacy group The 3/50 Project.
Small businesses are also among the hardest hit by the lagging economy, and spreading the word about Small Business Saturday brings awareness about the key role they play in cities and towns across the nation.
I wholeheartedly agree! Small business are the bread and butter of a local economy. It has been a tough few years for a lot of people and this movement supports the hard working, dedicated, local people you know! McGregor Chiropractic & Massage is a local Fort Myers owned and operated business, we offer gift certificates for massage, chiropractic, or designed clinical nutrition. We also carry in house hand-made, from scratch cold-process soaps, among other goodies. Unfortunately, we are not open on Small Business Saturday, however, these items are available year round.
Please, if you have a choice, make the one that keeps your dollars close to home and supports your local community. Shop Small on Small Business Saturday!
